What Is Lesmahagow Development Trust?

That is a very good Question!

Lesmahagow Development Trust is a recently established, independent, not-for-profit company with charitable status with the objective of funding and implementing projects to enhance the facilities and environment of the village.

To be successful it needs the support of residents, so why not become a member? It costs a minimum of £3 per year and entitles the member to receive reports on progress, attend and vote at general meetings and access our Members Website; but more importantly to provide advice, guidance and help on the direction and development of the Trust. In addition it is hoped that further benefits will be available in due course.

The membership charge is in place to cover administration costs and provide some funds to allow us to kick off our initial project(s). Lesmahagow has a population in excess of 8,000 people. If only half the population joins the Trust with each person paying the minimum £3, LDT will have £12,000 to spend on regeneration projects. However, it doesn't stop there; we will also able to secure match funding on this sum which could take the total to around £24,000. This would go a long way to making serious improvements in the village. As you can see, the future of Lesmahagow is very much in your hands.
